The commitment to making Canberra a Restorative City builds on the success of the ACT Government’s Restorative Justice Scheme and aims to embed principles of restorative practice throughout the ACT community. Restorative practices use participatory and relational approaches to problem-solving that prevent and repair harm and strengthen community relationships.
LPP has been working across the ACT Government and community sectors to promote and integrate restorative practices. This has included:
- developing tailored information material to help families navigate the coronial system
- supporting the Community Service Directorate (CSD) to embed restorative approaches in
Child and Youth Protection Services, and
- developing community engagement tools to encourage the Canberra community to engage
with and own the Restorative City commitment.
