This practice area provides advice and representation in relation to insurance, public liability, personal injury and property damage claims by and against the Territory, including coronial inquests and inquiries. These claims arise out the breadth of services provided by the Territory including but not limited to health, educational, public transport, social housing, infrastructure and corrective services activities.
The practice focus includes claims against the Territory including complex medical negligence claims. Examples of claims include those which raise allegations of negligence in relation to the diagnosis, treatment and care provided to patients of health care services in the Territory. These claims also include allegations of negligence prior to and during the birth process.
During the reporting period ACTGS continued to represent the Territory at coronial inquests.
