Championing Respect, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion
The Directorate welcomed Jennifer McNeill the Deputy Director-General Justice to the role of Executive Champion Respect, Equity and Diversity (RED) in early 2021. The new RED Champion has energised the conversation with a RED Matters Blog and has supported the establishment of an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Staff Network which meets regularly. The Assistant Director, Workforce Inclusion continued to support the Directorate to develop and deliver against the workforce diversity and inclusion strategies.
The JACS Reconciliation Committee (JRC) saw new members appointed for the development of the next JACS Reconciliation Action Plan. This included the appointment of Danielle Krajina (Executive Branch Management Governance and Business Improvement) as the Executive Champion for the development and implementation of the Directorate’s new Reconciliation Action Plan which will cover the period 2022-2024.
In addition, the Directorate supported the establishment of an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Communications and Engagement role, which aims to provide safe cultural advice and support to the Directorate more broadly. This role will also support the Reconciliation Action Plan Committee deliver a focused and appropriate Reconciliation Action Plan. It is anticipated that the new Stretch Reconciliation Action Plan will be launched in early 2022.
