There are currently 11 members of the Board, three being judicial members (i.e. the Chair and two Deputy Chairs). The current Chair and two Deputy Chairs of the Board each have extensive experience in the criminal justice system and in administrative law. The non-judicial members have a wide range of expertise and experience.

The Attorney-General of the ACT appoints Board members for a period not exceeding three years (section 174 Crimes (Sentence Administration) Act 2005 (CSA Act). The Chair and Deputy Chairs are judicial members and are required to have been ‘a legal practitioner for not less than 5 years’ (section 174(8) of the CSA Act).
